Review: Campos Coffee and Luxe Bakery, early weekday morning

Campos was buzzy, busy, warm and inviting. The serving staff knew who to direct the coffees to, rather than generally just yelling out: “small soy flat white!!”. Luxe had opened at the same time, so I moseyed on over there after collecting my coffee to inspect the goods.
At Luxe, approximately 5 people waiting for coffee at 7am in the morning, from a single barista, and my first impression was of cold. Yes, it was a winter morning and they had just opened the doors and were taking deliveries, but the place felt very cold.
Bread available: Batard, Sourdough and a soy-linseed. Tried a loaf of the latter ($7.50!) since it is a favourite from Sonoma, and a blueberry, bran and ricotta muffin. Also eyespyed the banana bread – it looked like a cake with a sugared walnut topping that scattered everywhere when you opened the bag.
The muffin was delicious and felt very filling and not too sweet. My impression of the soy-linseed bread was that it had a thicker crust than the Sonoma, and seemed a bit denser. When toasted, it maintained the crispy crust and chewy inside, however the crust seemed a bit tough and hard going.
